Item description

This is a gorgeous example of American Silversmithing up for sale. This ciborium or religious chalice is a classic example of W. J. Feeley?s religious piety and silver mastery. It measures 8.75 inches tall and weighs 410 grams. The base is 4.75 inches across and the cup is 3.75 inches across. The design is somewhere between gothic design with space in between - almost reminiscent of a very late Victorian era - which is apropos since Feeley worked out of Rhode Island approximately 1870-1920. His pieces are on display in many churches across the world and in many museums including the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the Yale Art Gallery. This piece is tarnished a bit, but the gold is still present. We didn?t want to strip any gold by accident so we will leave it to the buyer to polish to their liking. This is a museum quality piece and we know that because it came from a small museum and event space (and bed and breakfast) that shut down in St. Louis, Missouri.
