Item description
Please carefully examine all pictures
before purchasing. The pictures are an important part of the description, and
usually include important measurements. Items listed are in good pre-owned
condition unless otherwise specified.
This is an original, 1942, WW2 School Salvage Program poster that would have been displayed in elementary schools to encourage youth to search out and salvage every day items for the war effort. It discusses how steel is made in the center panels and then the outside panels discuss what can be made with salvaged items. In addition to the poster you will receive the original envelope from the War Production Board, and the original letter explaining what administrators should do to get children involved in the effort. The back of the letter has the "Story of Steel" which was supposed to be told to pupils. This is a very rare, very good condition poster from 1942. It does not appear to have ever been displayed, no tape or pinholes from hanging. The poster was stored folded, and has creases consistent with folding, could be flattened and framed, would look amazing. The colors are vibrant. The bottom corner has some creases. See all photos for full condition. Very rare WW2 ephemera.
