Item description
This is an antique Gooderham Worts whiskey bottle or flask, likely dating to the late 1800s. The beautiful old liquor bottle has traces of its original paper labels and stamp. Gooderham Worts was a Toronto, Canada based whiskey distillery that began operation in the 1830s and was sold in1927 but the label continued on into the 1990s. From research, I've been able to locate a photo of a Carstairs Pure Rye Whiskey bottle that matches exactly the remaining traces of this label. (I am including the image in this listing but this bottle does not have an intact label.) The antique whiskey flask has characteristics of an 1800s bottle, mold formed; seam stops below lip which was separately applied, cork topped (cork is missing). The glass at the bottom is unevenly poured and is quite slanted. There are several age related air bubbles in the glass. My father, an avid bottle hunter, found the bottle in the ruins of an old homestead in Virginia more than 40 years ago. Its in nice shape, free from breaks or cracks. Clarity is nice for an 120 plus year old bottle. I have not cleaned this flask (and it appears quite dirty) as I did not want to damage the remains of the labels. It measures about 8" x 4.25" x 1.5".
Please note this is an empty bottle sold for collectible purposes.
