Item description
Hazle Ceramics Vintage 1998 J. Sainsbury's A Nation Of Shopkeepers Building 156/2000 Signed By DL Hand Painted Made In England Hazle 2000 No. 3 Limited Edition. Measures 9" Tall, 4" Wide, 1 41/2" Deep. Brand New In Original Box Was Never Displayed. Same or next day USPS Shipping.
This piece is based on the building in Drury Lane, London, where the young John James and Mary Ann Sainsbury began their dairy enterprise in 1869. They lived above the shop for a few years and became well known for the quality of their produce and cleanliness of their premises.
"A Nation of Shopkeepers" takes its name from the famous Napoleon quote.
This piece is in excellent condition and one of the finest Hazle pieces ever produced. It was first issued in 1998 and went out of production in 2001 and was part of the Hazle 2000 Limited Edition series for the Millennium.
