Item description
Gum-a-Mib Co., Milwaukee, WI, c. 1930's.
Measures 17.25" wide by 16.5" deep by 17" tall
Back in the 1930?s this machine was known as a GUM-A-MIB.
The word ?MIB? is slang for any marble.
The machine was divided in half with marbles on one side and gumballs on the other.
Insert a penny at the top, push in plunger, you would get a gumball and your MIB would go to the playing field.
You shoot your MIB onto a whirlwind type metal playing field, which has 4 holes.
If you landed your MIB in the single hole to the far left, you would receive a MIB, otherwise it would drop back into the machine.
It takes skill to shoot the MIB and to land it in the hole that pays out the MIB.
The customer always received a gumball for their penny.
NOTE: This machine can be found on Page 9 of the Silent Salesman Too by Bill Enes.
Business since 1979
