Item description
This double union case contains 6th plate ambrotypes of a married couple identified as Cornelius I. Haring, born September 29, 1790, and Sophia Demarest, born April 2, 1797.
Cornelius Isaac Haring of Tappan was baptized on December 1, 1790. His parents were Isaac Haring (1752-1831) and Maria Haring Haring (1754-1840).
Sophia was baptized on December 1, 1790 at the Tappan Dutch Reformed Church. Her parents were Jacob Petrus Demarest (1779-1850) and Antje Blauvelt Demarest (1779-1850).
Cornelius married Sophia on August 8, 1814 at the age of 23. They joined the Tappan church on April 14, 1821. Together they had 6 children.
Cornelius died on January 16, 1864, and Sophia died on September 9, 1861. They are buried in Nanuet, NY.
