Alexander II, known as the Tsar Liberator, played a key role in the military campaigns aimed at consolidating Russian control in the region, and his portrait here reflects the imperial authority and legacy of the era.The reverse bears a single word of great geopolitical weight: ????????? (Caucasus), paired with the date 1871, and flanked by a five-pointed star and a decorative divider. The Caucasus campaigns were instrumental in asserting Russian dominance over the mountainous regions and quelling local resistance.
