Esta medalla de tiro suiza de 1847 finamente elaborada de la Federal Freischiessen en Glaris conmemora uno de los primeros festivales nacionales de tiro (Eidgenssisches Freyschiessen) celebrados en la Suiza premoderna. El anverso muestra con orgullo la figura de San Fridolin, el santo patron de Glario, dentro de un escudo heraldico, rodeado de coronas de roble y laurel, símbolos de fuerza cívica y honor marcial. La leyenda circundante, "EIDGENOSSISCHES FREYSCHIESSEN IN GLARUS", junto con la fecha 1847, sitúa esta medalla dentro de un año trascendental en la historia suiza, justo antes del estallido de la Guerra Sonderbund, que en última instancia conduciría a la formacion del moderno estado federal suizo.
En el reverso, el diseño transmite un poderoso mensaje de unidad e identidad suiza. Una cruz suiza central irradia entre banderas y rifles cruzados, rodeada por una corona de laurel y coronada por un par de manos juntas, un emblema atemporal de solidaridad confederada. La denominacion "40 Btz." (Batzen) marca esto como una pieza de valor simbolico y nocional. Si bien este ejemplo es una restriccion moderna destinada a coleccionistas, reproduce fielmente el espíritu del nacionalismo helvetico del siglo XIX y la tradicion duradera de puntería en la cultura cívica suiza. Ofrece una rica interseccion de numismatica, historia y patriotismo.
