This fisherman has just caught a small 'chicken halibut' 15-20 lbs, which are better tasting than the monster 'barn door' halibut that are 10 times larger. Unlike most fish which have 2 fillets, a halibut has 4, 2 on each side. The dog in this painting will surely get some halibut with his dinner as well. Rie Munoz (1921-2015) was a beloved Alaskan artist and is famous for her vibrant, unpretentious watercolors of scenes of daily Alaskan life.
