Item description

Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US lobby card from the 1950s Technicolor western drama, TUMBLEWEED, released in 1953 by Universal-International Pictures and directed by Nathan Juran. When a wagon train is wiped-out by the Yaqui Indians, the surviving guide Jim Harvey is accused of desertion and cowardice but Jim escapes the town jail in search of the truth. The scene depicts top-billed Audie Murphy and Chill Wills as they both look at three cowboys, but each with a different expression. It is unrestored in good condition only as shown with a Canadian censor stamp. The title of the film, Tumbleweed, is the name of the horse that Audie Murphy acquires about halfway through the film. This movie was also known by the alternative title of Three Were Renegades, the title of the 1937 novel, โ€œThree Were Thoroughbreds,โ€ by Kenneth Taylor Perkins, which the film was based, and had been previously filmed as the 1948 film, Relentless. Audie Murphy and Lori Nelson appeared together in another Western, Destry (1954).
