Our organically crafted Kanuka Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bushy Kunzea ericoides trees growing wild in the East Cape of New Zealand. The Maori people have traditionally used the Kanuka tree, also known as White Tea Tree, to assist with skin issues and help with joint and muscular pain and inflammation. Kanuka Essential Oil comes from the Myrtaceae family, which also includes Tea Tree and Manuka. Wild harvested from the East Cape of the North Island of New Zealand, where the varieties of Manuka and Kanuka are proven to have unusually powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. However considering the chemical makeup, the Kanuka Oil seems to be somewhat more closely related in composition to Australian Tea Tree Essential Oil than to New Zealand Manuka Essential Oil.
