Item description

Bring a touch of vintage charm to your home with this authentic PUREX amber glass half-gallon jug, embossed boldly with "PUREX" across the shoulder twice, one on each side. The letters are around 1.25" tall X about 1.0" wide. The jug also features its original molded handle. This heavy half-gallon amber colored glass jug was made by the Northwestern Glass Company of Seattle, Washington between the years 1940-1950.This can be learned from the embossed marks on the bottom of the jug, marks are "NW" and "3". NW being the initials for Northwest Glass Company and number "3" being their code for the city manufactured in. This jug was used during this time frame to package PUREX household bleach. Its deep amber color protected the product from sunlight and today its color gives the bottle a rich classic look perfect for display. Jug is about 10.75" inches in height by about 4.50" inches in diameter at the base which is widest part of jug. The jug weighs 1lb 13 ozs unpackaged, but it will be close to four lbs shipping weight after packing to protect this old hard to find bottle. It is in excellent vintage condition with only light wear which is consistent with its age and expected. There is no cracks, chips or flea bites on it and its brown amber color looks good. This is one of the nicest half gallon jars I have seen in a long time maybe the best ever. This old vintage jug would be great for vintage decor, a farmhouse display, laundry room decor or display on apothecary-style shelves, great piece for novice or advanced collections/collectors of antique household or advertising bottles. However it is used this beautiful mid-century jug blends nostalgia with rustic charm and makes for a fine piece of Americana glass history.
