Mucoplant Anisol of the German manufacturer Dr. Theiss is used as an expectorant in colds of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough with a thick, viscous secretion in the bronchi. Taken orally, anise oil is well and quickly absorbed, primarily in the small intestine. Through the bloodstream, the essential oil quickly reaches the pulmonary alveoli, where it exerts its secretolytic and expectorant effect. After oral administration in humans, there is evidence of trans-anethole in the exhaled air after only 30-40 minutes. Mucoplant Anisol acts as an expectorant in the respiratory system. It has secretolytic and secretomotor properties. Both effects facilitate expectoration of bronchial secretions. Secretolytics affect viscosity and increase the amount of bronchial secretion by stimulating the serous glands in the bronchial mucosa and the production of rare mucus, which is easily removed. Secretomotor devices help push bronchial secretions from the bronchi to the larynx by stimulating the movement of the cilia of the bronchial epithelium. Mucoplant Anisol also has a bactericidal effect, as shown in various experiments with bacteria and fungi. The phenolic coefficient is taken as an indicator of bactericidal properties. Compared to the phenol coefficient, which is 1, that of anise oil is 0.4. This complements the prophylactic and therapeutic effect of Mucoplant Anisol in secondary bacterial infections. This exhalative makes up 13 – 17% of the eliminated amounts. The predominant amount (54 – 69%) is almost completely eliminated through the kidneys in 8 hours. Available in a pack of 30 capsules.
