This compact evergreen groundcover has bright green new growth in the spring turning a bronze-purple in the winter. All year- round it is an excellent groundcover with dense branching and a full center growing 2 feet tall. Best performs as a foundation plant and groundcover. This low-maintenance evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Prune once or twice a year around the edges in order to keep the middle of the plant full. This juniper variety also has good winter color interest, with the bulk of the outer foliage displaying an interesting purplish bronze coloration. Winter coloration dissipates, and returns to the normal green color as temperatures moderate in spring.
