MEASURES 21" HIGH, 16" WIDE AND 13" DEEP, OVER 50 POUNDS
FAMILY PIECE, PAINTED A SHADE OF BROWN OVER THE YEARS, PAINT NIKS, FLAKING. LEGIBLE LETTERING
The story behind his sculpture is that is was taken from a Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Courtship of Miles Standish,", Captain Standish is courting Priscilla Mullens, but lacks the courage to ask for her hand in marriage. So, he has asked his young and handsome friend, John Alden, to plead his case. to which Priscilla suggests that John instead speak for himself.
SADLY BOTH MILES STANDISH'S ARMS BROKE AND WAS REPAIRED BUT LOST A PIECE OR TWO OF HIS HAT ALONG THE WAY, THE ARM REPAIR IS GOOD AND HOLDING. ALSO, BEHIND THE PEWTER SPINNING WHEEL, THE COVERED TABLE HAD A CHIP ON THE CORNER WHICH WAS REPAIRED. THERE ARE STILL THOSE THAT CAN DO A MORE PROFESSIONAL REPAIR TO HIS HAT.
THIS IS A VERY HEAVY AND VERY LARGE SCULPTURE, I AM UNABLE TO PACKAGE THIS ITEM FOR SHIPPING, UNLESS DONE PROFESSIONALLY WHICH IS COSTLY.
