DESCRIPTION: This is a nice antique cast iron picture or photograph frame with a mirror in it (see photos). The frame has been restored and repainted gold by a former owner. The frame is antique, and it dates to the late Victorian era and the early Art Nouveau period. The frame currently has a chipped modern piece of mirror in it, but I think it would make a better picture frame for a photograph (see photos). The frame is not marked by a maker (see photos). I would guess it would likely be American in origin (research and decide the origin of the item and the maker on your own). The frame has an interesting design with two figural mermaids at the base (see photos). The item has a rear leg so the frame or mirror can stand on its own for display. The frame is from an estate liquidation (see photos). The frame measures in total about 11.5 inches high to the top, and it is about 10.75 inches wide. The opening that holds the mirror and could hold a photo instead measures about 7.5 inches high and wide (diamond point to diamond point), or about 5.3 inches by 5.3 inches square. The antique frame has been repainted, the newer mirror insert has chips to the glass, and the frame has some wear (see photos and decide the age, the origin, and the maker). This is a nice antique mermaid themed picture or mirror frame to add to your collection.
