Ultra RARE and iconic, vintage "Christian Dior" Grace Kelly blue mink ombre coat in size FR 38/ 6 medium. Purchased by my Aunt in the Christian Dior boutique of Monaco, Monte-Carlo in 1986. Dior designed this piece in honor of the late Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, they only made a few. It was a limited piece and just a few of Dior's best clients were shown the Grace Kelly blue mink fur coat. My Aunt wore this coat in Monaco during the 80's 90's when she lived there year round, was a socialite and part of the Monegasque jet set society. History and Provenance: Dior designed this coat as a tribute to the late Princess Grace Kelly the famous dress that was made for her when she starred in the 1955 movie "To Catch a Thief". The iconic dress she wore in that movie was designed in beautiful shades of: Light blue, medium blue, azure blue, royal blue, midnight blue off white blended in an ombre effect. It was the design inspiration for the Grace Kelly blue mink fur coat. The coat features a classic boxy cut, long silky mink fur, blue silk lining, blue leather trim, fur around the interior border, 2 hidden pockets and hidden zip closure. The various shades of blue mink fur are tipped in off-white, which gives the fur a halo or luminous effect. The ends or tips of the fur have a subtle off-white sheen. The long mink fur shimmers and dances in the light. So incredibly beautiful! Grace Kelly's favorite color was blue. She often asked the movie production and wardrobe departments if she could have a blue dress made for a movie, she was set to star in. Her signature color was blue when she was an Old Hollywood movie starlet and years later as Princess of Monaco. Fabulous coat, looks perfect worn in a formal setting or simply with blue jeans. Highly collectible piece of history! It would look perfect paired with your favorite "H" or "C" bag. Looks amazing worn with an "H" Kelly bag. Excellent condition. This coat was kept in a temperature controlled custom closet. The exterior fur still has a sheen, looks fresh and moist. There are no signs of dryness. The interior silk lining is in excellent condition. There is no yellowing in the armpit area. It is perfect. On the left side of the Dior label, there are a couple tiny pinpricks, honestly not even worth mentioning. Will fit a size 4 and 6 perfectly, possibly even a small size 8.
