He was also a collector of militaria notably special forces and between the interests he accumulated a lot of baseball caps and now they are being passed on. Looks about new, may have been worn a time or two, no way to know. What do you do when someone gives you a cap? You put it on and say thank you it looks great then you take it home and put it away.
