Item description

A 150th. anniversary Battle of Gettysburg Civil War commemorative silk envelope showing the charge of the First Minnesota on July 2, 1863. Envelope has a pictorial postmark of the "Evergreen Cemetery Gatehouse 150th Anniversary Station" dated July 2, 2013 on a Gettysburg stamp. FREE SHIPPING. The charge of the First Minnesota Regiment against an entire brigade prevented the Confederates from breaking thru the Union line until re-enforcements arrived on Cemetery Ridge. Only 47 of the 262 Minnesotans remained fit for combat. The 82 per cent casualty rate was the highest of any Union regiment in the Civil War.
