The handles ("ears") go around the entire dish. This retro butter dish was made and originally advertised by PRYEX as "Serve 'N Store Butter Dish" between 1960 - 1968. Impressed underneath dish reads "TRADEMARK 32 PYREX MADE IN U.S.A." Glass has no chips or cracks. Lid seats firmly on base.
