About the Artist: John Romita (1930?2023) was a legendary comic book artist best known for his definitive work on The Amazing Spider-Man during the Silver Age of comics. Taking over from Steve Ditko in 1966, Romita brought a more polished, romantic style to the book, helping to make Spider-Man Marvel?s flagship character and co-creating key characters like Mary Jane Watson and the Kingpin. Additionally, he illustrated many of Marvel's other top-tier characters, including Daredevil, Captain America, the Hulk (co-creating Wolverine for the landmark Incredible Hulk issues 180-182). He also served as Marvel?s art director for many years, shaping the visual identity of the company across countless titles and mentoring a generation of artists. Romita?s elegant, expressive linework and storytelling sense left an enduring mark on the industry, earning him a place among the all-time greats.
