Item description

About the item: Signed by hand by Paul Soles (August 11, 1930 - May 26, 2021), who also hand-wrote onto the photo the first lines to the series theme song, this 8 by 10 inch photo features an image from the 1967 Spider-man animated cartoon series released by ABC. Spidey was just five years old when the animated series debuted, having already become Marvel's most popular character, with his own solo series and numerous guest appearances, annuals, and soon-to-be published proto-graphic novel The Spectacular Spider-Man (two issues of which were released the following year). But Soles brought the wall-crawler to life for the first time ever as both Spider-Man and Peter Parker, becoming the very first actor to portray the character. The series ran from September 9, 1967, to June 14, 1970. Though a low-budget production, it remains a popular nostalgic piece of Spider-man history and its now iconic theme song (most recognized by it's opening line (Spider-Man, Spider-Man! Does whatever a spider can!"), has received numerous homages. The 2002 and 2004 film versions included Jayce Bartok and Elyse Dinh, respectively, street-preforming the song and both films have the song at the end of the credits (the 2002 adaptation featured the original 1967 recording and 2004's Spider-Man 2 has a re-recording by Michael Buble. Spider-Man 3 (2007) features a performance of the song by a marching band at a public rally for Spider-Man. In 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter uses a version of the theme as his ringtone and In 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, an rousing orchestral version plays during the Marvel Studios title card sequence. The signature is certified by CGC as signed by hand by Paul Soles, noting that Mr. Soles also hand-wrote "Spider-man, Spider-Man! Does whatever a spider can" onto the photo. It is encapsulated in CGC's tamper-proof photo sleeve (which measures approximately 8 3/4 by 12 inches). As with all CGC Signature Series collectibles, a certified witness actually observes the signing of the item in question and then takes possession of the item so there is no possibility of the real autograph being switched out with another. Please note- unlike actual comic books, CGC's website does not allow for the search of serial number for photos. However, a call to their customer service center can confirm the authentication details.
