It is a classic "cabinet photo" (6.5" x 4.25" including the backing), replacing the "carte-de-visite", which was smaller. Chauncey Olcott was a popular Irish-American actor, singer and songwriter of the 1880s thru 1920s. He wrote all the Irish songs I know - When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Mother Machree, Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral, My Wild Irish Rose... In a 1947 movie about his life, "My Wild Irish Rose", Olcott was played by Dennis Morgan. This photo was found among other photos and memorabilia related to The Mulford Son cigar factory, which in the early 1900s was next door to my wife's family funeral parlor and furniture store in upstate New York. Olcott, after vehemently denying in a newspaper interview that he would ever endorse a cigar, endorsed a Mulford Son cigar in approximately 1912. Please see photos for condition. Shipping on Mondays.
