Jonette Jewelry Company of Providence, Rhode Island, began as The Providence Jewelry Company somewhere between 1935 and 1943. It was founded by Abraham Lisker, who changed the name of the business to Lisker Lisker when his brother joined the firm. The business was renamed again after World War II. The new and final moniker was formed using the Lisker brothers? parents? names: John and Etta.
This company is widely known for marketing novelty jewelry, especially brooches, although they sold other types as well. The JJ mark was first used around 1970.
