Item description
If you have seen a picture of “New Zealand Sheep” you have seen Corridale. If you have bought wool yarn that wasn’t labeled Shetland or Merino, you have likely bought Corriedale. The most common sheep in New Zealand; the Correidale has its origins in the nineteenth century. A descendant of the race by English farmers to outdo the spanish merino, this breed is part Merino, part Lincoln Longwool, and part English Romney. The hybrid was developed in Corriedale, New Zealand by James Little. It was officially recognized as the Corriedale sheep in 1910, and remains one of the most popular breed of sheep around the world today- coming in slightly behind its ancestor, the merino.
Can be used for just about anyhting the Merino can.
This particualr yarn is the most common color of Corriedale, off-white.
Listed price is for a 196 yard ball.
