Item description

? You are purchasing one Duchess of Oldenburg apple tree, a grafted plant measuring 12-18 inches tall. This variety is also known as “Borovinka” in Russia. ? Introduced to the United States over 150 years ago from Russia, Duchess of Oldenburg is valued for its extreme cold resilience and ability to withstand common apple diseases such as Apple Scab, Cedar-Apple Rust, and Fire Blight. The medium-sized fruit has pale yellow skin with crimson stripes and splashes. Its sprightly tart flavor makes it excellent for pies and sauces. This variety ripens from mid-August to early September. Recommended pollination partners include Yellow Transparent and Zestar. ? If received in a container with soil during summer, do not disturb the roots. Keep the plant in its plastic container until it becomes fully dormant in November, at which point it can be safely transplanted. When sent during winter dormancy, the roots are wrapped in wet media and plastic. Plant immediately upon arrival. ? Plants are typically sent on Mondays or Tuesdays to prevent weekend transit delays. They are mailed via First-Class Mail, with a tracking number provided. ? Your order will arrive in good condition. If any issues occur upon receiving the order, contact us the same day with a detailed description and photos so we can assist you.
