Item description
AN EXTREMELY RARE, 1960s ROCK/POP RECORD RELEASED ON A SMALL LEWISTON, MAINE LABEL. Any Seasons, and b/w All the Troubles. Both are original tunes written by band member Tom Davis. Another known member of this band was Ronnie Shaw. EAB 1122 45 rpm record. See below for more information about this record. Released circa 1968. Condition: Record is mint, and comes directly from the recording studio archives. No promo or cut-out markings of any kind.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS RECORD: The A Side, "Any Seasons" features an arrangement heavy on the horns, reminiscent of Chicago or Blood, Sweat and Tears. Side B, "All the Troubles" offers an ecclectic mix of instruments including flute, a driving guitar solo, and more horns. The vocalist is only moderately talented, but give him credit for his daring falsetto interludes in this song. This record was produced by Eddie Boucher on his own record label (EAB is an acronym for his name). Eddie is the grandfather of the Lewiston garage band scene that emerged in the early 1960s. Boucher began as the leader of the Royal Knights surf band whose records are highly sought after by collectors. After the Knights disbanded, Boucher managed bookings for dozens of other Maine bands and owned a recording studio for more than 20 years. The number of talented singers and musicians that surfaced in Lewiston, Maine during this period is highly unusual given the relatively small size of the city. Many of the band members were of Franco-American heritage, with a strong music culture dating back many generations. Although few of them fashioned permanent careers in the music industry, the era of the Central Maine garage bands is forever preserved on vinyl. Fortunately, it was the fashion at that time to make your own record - and the existence of a small, independent, and affordable recording studio with a genius owner/producer brought it all together.
