Original Vintage Eska Wrist Watch Hang Tag, ca 1940s For your vintage Eska wristwatch... You may have the box and possibly the papers... But do you have an original hang tag? Not surprising if you don't; they are super rare! Dimensions: 32 x 21 mm Condition: Mint Eska Watch Company The Eska Watch Company (Sylvan Kocher Cie SA) was founded 1918 in Grenchen, Switzerland by S. E. Kocher, and took its name from the German pronunciation of the founderรขs initials, S-K. In 1922, the Firm moved to Selzach Switzerland; and in around 1930 import offices were opened in Baltimore, then subsequently in New York under the firm name Walter Kocher. In addition to Eska, Sylvan Kocher also registered a number of other brands. The most famous of these is Royce, Kocherรขs export brand created in 1930 and marketed alongside Eska watches throughout the World. To meet American market requirements Kocher equipped the ETA movements in his watches with Breguet hairspring and gold settings, as these features were essential for recognition as high grade watches in the U.S.A. In parallel, for the European markets, standard ETA movements with flat hairsprings generally were employed. Eska became particularly known for their chronograph wristwatches. In addition, other important Eska models which have found favor with collectors today include the very fine cloisonne ennamel dial watches which Eska pioneered in the 1940s-1950s. A number of different cloisonne dial designs were created, including their most famous series, one for each of the twelve signs of the Zodiac. Additionally, Eska/Royce produced high range jewellery wristwatches for ladies, as well as specialty items such as pocket/purse watches encased in 18K gold coins specially modified for this purpose. Ultimately Eska/Royce became one of the long list of Swiss watch companies that foundered at the end of the 1970s.
