For your consideration, 1 Vintage Hand Made Wooden Cigar Box. No ordinary cigar box, a beautiful, hand crafted box with numerous special features! The Dovetail Wood Box is approx. 6 " X 5 7/8" X 3" and was hand made. This box was handmade in Dominican Republic by trained professionals who use only the highest quality materials. Designed to last, these boxes are built from scratch using the finest Spanish Cedar wood available on the market. This box features a nice box construction including dovetail corners and a working ornamental brass hasp closure. The interior features a brilliant colorful graphic of a municipal district in the Dominican Republic, winged angels with the company banner, various statehood flags and an Indian princess. The box originally held 25 cigars. On the top of the box is the older symbol of "Arturo Fuente" with a leaf motif surrounding the "AF" logo. Underneath the logo is a banner that reads: "calidad suprema" (Supreme Quality); Established in "1912" - see history below. This older "AF" symbol came out in the 1960's The shining "Republica Domincana" seal is in excellent condition and still firmly attached. It signifies that is box is GENUINE and ORIGINAL It is in excellent condition with no holes, cracks or scratches. - see pictures. The white rough areas are light reflection, not flaws in the wood. The Arturo Fuente cigar brand was born in 1912 in West Tampa, Florida. It was in that year that the brand was launched by a 24-year-old Cuban emergent named Arturo Fuente (1887 ? 1973) as A. Fuente Co. The original factory used by the company was a three-story wooden building. Tobacco was shipped in from nearby Cuba for production into finished cigars. The Arturo Fuente Company is still in operation in Tampa. A Brief History of Cigar Boxes In 1863, the packaging of cigars in BOXES was made mandatory. Only cigar boxes made of glass and/or wood were permitted. Tin boxes were eventually allowed a few years later; but by 1878, laws had been relaxed to allow for novelty stogie packaging.
