Item description

Antique one-sided embossed photogravure print by French artist Francois-Alfred Delobbe (1835-1920) titled After the Bath. Published on heavyweight paper in 1893 by D. Appleton Co., New York. Stated copyright 1893 by the artist. "Photogravure Goupil" denoted beneath the image. Full size measures approximately 12.5 x 16.5. Recommended framing area including image, artist/title, and embossed inner white border (that portion of the border that would normally be visible after framing or matting) measures approximately 10 x 14.5. Condition: Print is in excellent condition aside from some age browning of white border along edges well outside the recommended framing area. There are no pin holes or tape marks anywhere on this antique print. Comments: "Garden Party" by the French painter Jules Machard, a study of a woman dressed for a garden party, first exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1892. The original hung in the East Pavillion of the Art Palace during the 1893 Columbian Exposition.
