This is for a set of 7 heavy duty polymer replacement hinge half pieces for the special half metal/half plastic garage door hinges found on many older garage doors. These are direct replacements in a heavy duty design using modern materials. The factory never offered spare hinges. These are direct replacements so you will not spend hours modifying your door or drilling new holes in the steel. Installation does not involve a long down-time and you won't be dealing with a rigged up door that binds because the hinges are mismatched. Wherever you have one hinge that has failed, the hinges adjacent to it have been stressed. One single replacement hinge cannot make up for the other hinges next to it. The problem with the original hinges on these doors isn't because they're plastic. The problem is the plastic piece wasn't made to last, it was made for quick assembly by the original door installer. This heavy duty polymer version is 10x stronger and also allows the two halves to separate cleanly in most cases under extreme vertical stress without breaking. This allows you to fix the problem and then rejoin the two halves. You will receive 7 pieces of the hinge half shown as well as instructions sent via messages. The heavy duty version you receive will look slightly different cosmetically from the images shown. The design of the original hinges also required a high pressure forced fit just to connect the plastic half to the metal half of the hinge. Installing this new piece does not require any such force. It is very simple. As for preparation while your order is en route there is no need to remove the metal half of your hinges. Leave them in place on your door. Installation does not require specialized service. YOU JUST NEED A HANDYMAN or DIY. I would not ask a garage door company. Their hourly rate is very high. They are also in the business of selling garage doors not repairing them. It's like asking a car salesman if you should fix your car for $238 or buy a whole new car. If you don't do DIY stuff around the house you just need a handyman or a friend/neighbor who does. Repairing your door is 10x cheaper than replacing your whole garage door($2,000 average nationwide) or making lots of new holes in the thin steel door trying to modify it to make it work differently. Projects like that never come out quite right and take hours/days of labor. Also a new $2k garage door will be 10x more noisy than your existing door. It's horrendous. These new heavy duty hinges are a "one and done" direct replacement. As with all garage doors do not allow people or pets to stand under an open garage door and do not park under an open garage door.
