Overall, a very good example of this riveting work. Copiously illustrated with b/w plates and cuts of the U.S. Cavalry across its history. John Herr, the main author, was the last Chief of Cavalry. From its modest beginnings in the Revolutionary War, through its abolition, so far as the horse was concerned, in 1942, to its mechanized operations in the Korean War. A landmark book of the genre.
