Item description
RANULF OF CHESTER:
A Relic Of The Conquest.
by James W. Alexander.
Atlanta: The University of Georgia Press, (1983).
First edition, first printing.
A well-researched, fascinating historical biography of Ranulf III, who was one of three barons chosen to carry a coronation sword for Richard The Lionheart, firmly loyal to Prince John thereafter, a fair ruler, a Norman Earl who imprisoned his wife for more than two years, and more.
Fine, square, very tight and probably unread in black linen with gilt embossed titles to the spine, black-and-yellow headband and tail-band, smoke-gray end-papers; in a very nearly fine dust jacket with a nick from the rear panel's upper shelf-edge corner.
Octavo; 191 pages; notes; bibliography; index.
