Illustrated with 64 figures. First published in 1879, this is the second edition of an important early study of an ancient North American culture and its earthworks. The large fold-out map of Butler Co., Ohio, is still attached at the back of the book with just some edge/corner creases. Tightly bound with bright, unfaded covers and spine. Modest cover corner fraying and a few other minor touches of exterior wear. The pages are only somewhat tanned. There is a small private library sticker on the front end paper, a name and date written on a blank page and a bit of pencil writing on a text page. Overall, though, this is one of the loveliest copies of a 19th century book I've seen. The price has been reduced by 20%.
