In August of 1992, Marvel Comics continued the second volume of its Marvel UK title, The Knights of Pendragon, an iteration that marked a significant departure from the original series. While the first volume, launched in 1990, was deeply rooted in British folklore, Arthurian legend, and environmental themes, this relaunch aimed to integrate the team more directly into the mainstream Marvel Universe. The new series, still primarily written by Dan Abnett, found the original Knights disbanded and scarred by their previous battles. This volume adopted a darker, more action-oriented tone, repositioning the remaining members, such as Union Jack, as a more conventional superhero team. They faced off against threats tied to the wider Marvel UK "Genesis 1992" crossover event, including the sinister Mys-Tech organization, moving the narrative away from the purely eco-mythological struggle against the Bane that had defined its predecessor.
