Item description
The plant you will receive is not in bloom.
Like Brassavola nodosa, Maxillaria tenuifolia is one of those orchids that belongs in every collection. While small plants remain compact, it may also be grown into a specimen in a rather short period of time. The grasslike foliage makes an attractive houseplant even when not in flower. Being a widely distributed species, it is adaptable to a broad range of growing conditions. Also known as the "coconut orchid", this Maxillaria will perfume the home or greenhouse with its coconut-scented flowers.
Care is simple - keep it moist high light like Cattleya. It can take a wide range of light and will take bright light up to about 5000 foot candles. It likes to stay moist and will tolerate large amounts of water on its roots. Not much more except to enjoy the scent in March - April when they bloom.
Effective immediately we do not ship plants to Hawaii, California and Arizona due to state mandated permits required for plant importing. Orders from these states will be cancelled.
