*Free returns on this item. This is for a pair of new custom made license plate light assemblies for all W123 models including the wagon. While I don't recommend L.E.D. for exterior lighting the license plate lights and other very low draw lights(interior) are actually ideal in L.E.D. These days, after 40+ years of diesel exhaust, our stock license plate lights are barely cutting it. They might look fine but next to fresh modern lighting they are brownish yellow in most cases. I decided to do something about this after the original lenses became NLA and after a friend got a warning for their dim license plate lights. At night the rear of a W123 is very dim overall especially next to modern cars. If you want bright and clear license plate lights you either need new modern light assemblies like these or you need NOS W123 lenses which cost more and have already dulled after sitting for decades. You could always run L.E.D. bulbs in your original lenses but they still don't come close to these. One other benefit of these assemblies is when the trunk lid is up they actually provide very good area lighting. Fitment anomaly: I encountered a 1979 W123 in which the size of the opening where these mount was more narrow by about 1mm. If you have a very early W123 you might need to work about 0.5mm off of each side of the opening with a flat file. This area is completely hidden so the only way anyone would notice it would be to lift the trunk lid and then remove the lenses.
