Japanese version of Metroid Fusion for the Gameboy Advance in English language with hard mode difficulty which was exclusive to that version. Hard mode comes unlocked with normal and easy difficulty modes still available.
Hard Mode changes expansions and enemy damage. All expansions are worth much less than they are in Normal Mode; an Energy Tank gives only 50 more energy, Missile Expansions give only 2 more missiles, and Super Missiles and Power Bombs give only 1 more ammo of the respective type. Enemies also deal twice as much damage as compared to Normal Mode.
Additional features in this version that were not in the North American version include an Adult Mode and Child Mode which affects which endings are displayed. Child Mode's endings depict events from Samus's past, and Adult Mode's endings depict Samus in a revealing outfit. The Child Mode endings are inaccessible in Western versions of the game, but can be unlocked by connecting the game to Zero Mission. This version will remember the sound settings on the Samus Data Screen. A Gallery of 6 ending images becomes available in the Japanese version after completing the game, and can be accessed on the Title Screen. The images unlocked depend on game completion time and percentage. In subsequent playthroughs of this version, the introduction cutscene can now be skipped. Lastly, in this version the central morph ball tunnel in the room outside the Sector 4 Data Room is removed, and the other two Powamps are moved further away.
