This is a vintage Piels Beer Bottle Cap Opener. The vintage can opener was inherited over 35 years ago from an individual who operated a Piels Distribution Center in the 1950s. The opener is engraved, "Piels Light Beer - Piel Bros - Brooklyn NY" and an encircled "7" the reverse side reads, "CMIAPP- Vaughn USA 58". Vaughn Novelty MFG of Chicago, IL operated between 1910 and the 1970s and dropped the word "Novelty" in the 1950s. Piels Beer ceased operation in New York in 1973. Best guess on a date for the antique beer opener is 1958 as the date fits with the original owner. The metal bottle opener is in nice shape although there are a couple of rust spots (see photos).
