Item description

Montpelier VT Coin Silver 8.75? Spoon A.A.Mead Lowell A Sanborn Co Monogram E. Lots of information to unpack here in one spoon. We believe Montpelier VT was where the spoon was made. AA Mead was the silversmith and A Sanborn Co was the company that may have done the engraving of the monogram at a later date. Both places were silversmiths specializing in coin and sterling silver. AA Mead is the more prominent name. Sanborn Co was out of Lowell Massachusetts. Spoon itself is 8.75 inches long and weighs a hefty 47 grams. Monogrammed with an ?E?. Spoon is in really nice shape for its age with no dents or dings and it?s been fun uncovering the history which may or may not be entirely accurate as information is sketchy. As far as age goes, AA MEAD lived from 1823-1887. Amos Sanborn was born in 1812 in Salisbury NH and died in Lowell Mass sometime after 1875 as we cannot find any specific instances beyond that year attributed to him. He partnered with Horace Baldwin Bacon creating A Sanborn Co in 1874 so the spoon could have been made as early as 1840s and as late as 1870s. Will ship USPS first class with tracking to winning buyer
