Item description

Grosset Dunlap. Copyright 1934; revised/condensed 1965. This is the original, unrevised 25-chapter text, Farah-coded 1952A-38, but see the write-up below. A very good book in a dust jacket marred by a large chip at the top of the spine and upper right corner of the front, and with brittled and discolored taping at the jacket edges. The tape has also discolored the endpaper edges. This is too bad, because it is otherwise a nice sturdy book. Prior owner name on front free endpaper. No other markings/writing. Rear jacket lists to Connie Blair The Ghost Wore White. Front jacket flap lists to The Mystery at the Ski Jump. Rear flap lists to Cherry Ames Mountaineer Nurse. The Cherry Ames listing, the "9595" notation at the upper right of the front jacket flap and the Ski Jump listing on the front flap, as well as the Format 14 endpapers, all nail this book down as a 1952B-38, BUT according to Farah, the Connie Blair listing ought to be to the seventh book in that series, whereas this lists to the sixth (The Ghost Wore White), so this is an anomalous jacket. Maybe one of you collectors can figure this one out. It's definitely not later than the 1952B-38, and can't be earlier, either. NOTE: Hope you're not a New York state resident. When we ship to an address within NY state, you're out of luck. An 8.75% sales tax (ouch) must be added to your purchase. (11C)
