Fifty Years of the great Tradition From the dust jacket ----- The NHL All-Star Game had its beginnings in 1908 with a benefit game for Hod Stuart, a star with the Montreal Wanderers who tragically drowned just weeks after helping his team win the Stanley Cup in 1907. In the 1930s, benefit games were played for the families of Ace Bailey, Howie Morenz, and Babe Siebert. These games brought together the top players - the stars of the NHL - in a night of competition that pitted the best against the best.
