Mont Sainte-Victoire is best known as a favorite subject of Cezanne. But as with any strikingly magnificent setting, artists of all shapes and sizes and abilities put on canvas their own unique "spin." In this painting the artist purposely flattened the perspective to show a twisting road leading up the mountainside. David Camardo (1939-2023) lived and painted in the rural Gold Country of Amador County, California and in Le Brusc, France. He began studying art in 1962 and lived for more than 40 years in Woodside, California. Through the years he received prizes and commissions for painting, sculpture, and drawings, which have been exhibited in numerous shows in northern California, both group and solo.
