Paul Molitor, affectionately known as "The Ignitor," was a cornerstone of the Milwaukee Brewers franchise for 15 seasons (1978-1992). Drafted third overall in 1977, Molitor quickly ascended to the big leagues, showcasing a unique blend of hitting prowess, speed, and exceptional baseball instincts. Despite battling a series of debilitating injuries throughout his early career, he consistently put up Hall of Fame numbers. He was a vital component of the "Harveys Wallbangers" team that captured the American League pennant in 1982, batting .302 and leading the AL with 136 runs scored that season. Molitors most iconic individual achievement with the Brewers came in 1987 when he captivated the baseball world with a remarkable 39-game hitting streak, the longest in the American League since Joe DiMaggios legendary run. A versatile player who seamlessly transitioned between infield and outfield positions, Molitors legacy as one of the greatest Brewers of all time was cemented with his number 4 jersey retirement and his eventual induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
