Item description

Vintage wedding reception luncheon menu for Maria Thereza and Renato Francesco, dated December 7, 1950 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Measures 4.25 x 6.5, string bound. Condition: This is an original menu, not a copy or reproduction. It is in very good condition. There is a pair of waxy residue patches on the back cover as shown in our last image. Comments: An identical menu from our inventory has a handwritten message on the inside back cover which reads, "This was the reception dinner for our friends when they were married. They are in Europe now. They only had 480 guests." This item comes from the estate of Lt. Colonel Sol. E. Ernst, who served in the U.S. Military Mission to Brazil circa 1949-1950. He was an expert in various types of radar bombing equipment and gave a lecture on that subject at the AAF School of Applied Tactics in May, 1945. He also served as a technical advisor for the 1943 movie Bombardier starring Randolph Scott, Pat OBrien, Eddie Albert, and Anne Shirley.
