Available here is this cute little kitchen chicken collectible in the form of a handcrafted salt shaker that was cold-painted. Cold painting is a method that was used more than 80-90 years ago in many crock and stoneware products of the past. This is done after the ceramic clay or stoneware has been fired either glazed or unglazed and painted on after it has cured and cooled down leaving a matte finish where is was painted. This chicken salt shaker measures approximately 2-1/2” inches long by 2-1/4” inches tall by 1-1/2” inches wide and is in excellent condition showing no cracks, crazing, fleabites, missing or broken parts. However, it does show two paint fading areas on the comb and wattles of the chicken due to handling. It has a matte ceramic bisque finish. There is no maker’s mark and looks to have been home-made and handcrafted during the craze in the 1980's of ceramic craft shops. It was taken out of storage wrapped in newspaper and has not been cleaned.
