When it comes to collectible Royal Doulton figurines, the Bunnykins series is by far the most popular today. These cute bunny characters in various themed scenes and stylistic variations have been manufactured by Royal Doulton (Doulton Co. at the time) since 1939
In 1939 the first Bunnykins figures appeared but unfortunately did not remain in production for long due to the outbreak of WWII and it was not until 1972 that the figures once more joined the collection. The John Beswick Company had joined with the Royal Doulton group by this time and they acquired the modelling skills of Albert Hallam who had worked on the iconic Beatrix Potter line of figures. These little characters were amongst some of Beswick's most successful products and Royal Doulton decided to create a similar collection of anthropomorhic bunny figures known as the Bunnykins figures. The first 9 figures were launched in 1972 - and all were inspired by Walter Hayward's nursery ware patterns.
With collectors worldwide, the Royal Doulton Bunnykins range spans over 500 different Royal Doulton Bunnykins figures, with numerous Limited Editions, Special Colourways and Australian Exclusive designs being released over the last 5 decades ....
