Item description

Cosmos lights up the garden or meadow in midsummer with pink, crimson and white flowers that hold until frost on tall plants. Attractive to both butterflies and hummingbirds, its colorful and abundant blooms are easy to grow in any region. Cosmos is a popular cutting flower with ferny foliage and strong stems and looks lovely planted along a fenceline. Cosmos bipinnatus, commonly called the garden cosmos or Mexican aster. It is native to the Americas. Zones 2 - 10 Advantages Attract Butterflies Easy To Grow Bee Friendly Pest / Disease Resistant Native Low Maintenance Good For Cut Flowers Good For Containers Extended Bloom Time (more than 4 weeks) Great For Mass Plantings Naturalizes Light Requirements Full Sun Half Shade Mature Height 12-72" tall (1-6' tall) Bloom Time Mid summer to frost When to Plant Cosmos Direct-sow seeds outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before your last spring frost date in trays or pots with a good seed-starting mixture. Move them into 5-inch pots as soon as they?re 3 or 4 inches tall. Young plants (transplants) can be planted outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Choosing and Preparing a Planting Site Cosmos don?t need any special soil preparation. In fact, they like soil that is not too rich, as rich soil will encourage foliage at the expense of blooms. Soil should be well-draining. Cosmos are tolerant of most soil pH levels, but grow best in neutral to alkaline soils. Cosmos can tolerate warm, dry weather very well. They are even drought-tolerant. Depending on the variety, cosmos can grow anywhere between 18 to 60 inches tall, so plan accordingly. How to Plant Cosmos Just sow seeds lightly?no more than 1/4-inch deep. Thin to 12?18 inches apart when seedlings are a few inches tall. If you are growing cosmos from seeds, be mindful that it takes about 7 weeks to first bloom. After that, though, your flowers should continue to bloom until the first fall frost. If you let the spiky-brown seed heads blow away during the fall, cosmos are likely to self-sow throughout your garden. =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s=s=s=s=s=s= Free shipping to Canada- and USA Selected seeds only Add this item to your cart and keep shopping-- at https://www.ebay.ca/usr/okiger-2i55iwk =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s=s=s=s=s=s= Shipping of Seeds and Cuttings: Orders are shipped via Canada Post Mail unless otherwise specified. Some items are shipped without tracking to keep costs low. This is the most economical option. Canada Post is incredibly reliable, but can be slow. If you require tracking or a faster delivery please message before ordering. We try to ship any live plants on MONDAYS or TUESDAYS as a precautionary measure to avoid delays over the weekend and ensure the viability of live plant orders. Weather may be a contributing factor in the processing of our orders and will occasionally cause some delay. We will ship seeds anywhere in the world, however, please make sure you check with your country's customs office to be sure that they are allowed in. We will not be held responsible for orders held, confiscated and/or destroyed by customs. Please note this and make sure you understand before you buy it.
