Item description

The background of the ships shows the Reliant coming around Space Station Regula 1 as Khan renews his pursuit of Kirk in the stricken Enterprise. This set includes a wonderfully detailed USS Reliant (NCC-1864) featured in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. When we first boarded Reliant, we found our old friend Mr. Chekov to be first officer. Reliant did not, of course, survive the movie, but its class of ship would still be serving Star Fleet into the era of the Next Generation. We then move to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, where we are introduced to USS Excelsior. Though the ship is marked as NCC-2000, our first glimpse of her hull sported the designation NX-2000. So, while we first see her in III, we don't see her as NCC until Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. The back of the card actually cites the ship as the Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country Excelsior under command of Captain Sulu, though the picture next to the information is of the NX hull marking. Also first seen in III, but actually featured as the principle starship of IV, is the Klingon Bird of Prey. It's cloak and massive cargo bay would prove helpful with the 20th century carry-out order the 23rd century desperately needed. These are great little, greatly detailed models that can continue to be displayed in their original packaging, or opened and put on their individual stands for nice individual displays.
