Item description

Spanish Padron Tapas and Padron Mildly Hot Pepper Seeds -Delicious I was given two sets of seeds; one called Padron another called Spanish Padron Tapas- they look similar but may be different. My description below is for both or either. However we are selling the seeds as 2 kinds. ??A Journey from the New World to Spain** Padron peppers, known in Spanish as **Pimientos de Padron**, hail from the small town of **Padron in Galicia**, a verdant region in northwestern Spain. Their story begins in the **16th century** when Spanish **Franciscan monks** traveled to the New World?specifically the regions that are now **Mexico and South America**. They brought back pepper seeds to cultivate in their monastery gardens, unknowingly setting the stage for a culinary tradition that would span centuries. ### **Adaptation and Cultivation** Upon planting these seeds in Galicia?s unique climate?cooler and wetter than their native habitats?the peppers **adapted** in remarkable ways. The environmental differences influenced their **flavor profile**, resulting in peppers that are generally **mild and sweet**, but with the intriguing twist that **an occasional pepper packs a spicy punch**. This unpredictable heat level became one of their most charming characteristics. ### **Cultural Significance and Cuisine** This element of surprise gave rise to the popular Galician saying: *"Os pementos de Padron, uns pican e outros non."* Which translates to: *"Padron peppers, some are hot, and some are not."* Padron peppers became a staple in **Spanish cuisine**, especially in **tapas bars**. They are typically **fried in olive oil** until blistered and then sprinkled with **coarse sea salt**?a simple preparation that highlights their natural flavors. Eating them became a social experience, a delightful game of **culinary roulette** that adds excitement to meals. ### **Festivals and Celebrations** Their popularity is celebrated annually at the **Festa do Pemento de Padron**, a festival held every **August** in the town of Padron. Locals and visitors alike gather to honor the pepper, enjoying music, parades, and, of course, plenty of Padron peppers prepared in traditional ways. ### **Botanical Notes** - **Latin Name:** *Capsicum annuum* - **Scoville Rating:** Usually between **500 to 2,500 SHU**, mostly mild but occasionally medium-hot - **Days to Harvest:** **60-80 days** - **Plant Height:** **18-24 inches** - **Leaf Color:** Rich green - **Fruit Size:** **1-2 inches** long - **Fruit Color:** Starts **green**, turns **red** when fully mature - **Flavor Characteristics:** Predominantly **mild, earthy, and slightly sweet**, with the **rare spicy pepper** adding a burst of heat ### **Global Spread and Legacy** In recent years, Padron peppers have gained international fame. Chefs and home cooks around the world have embraced them for their unique taste and the fun they bring to the table. Growing Padron peppers connects you to a rich history of exploration, cultural exchange, and culinary delight. Start Peppers indoors 10-14 weeks prior to last frost. Transplant to 4 inch pots when true leaves appear. Requires hardening. Transplant seedlings 24-36 inches apart in well-draining loamy soil. Water regularly. Harvest peppers with gloves when deep red and wrinkled =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s Free shipping to Canada- and USA Selected seeds only Add this item to your cart and keep shopping-- at https://www.ebay.ca/usr/okiger-2i55iwk =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s=s=s=s=s=s= ?
